10th January 2010: HAPPY NEW YEAR! Tina found these this and this which list gigs in Germany in July, I hope it develops into a European tour :)

Sylvia found this video which explains why José was in the Viennese sewers last summer!

17th January 2010: I just copied this off José's Official Site, whatever your beliefs please read it:

Prayer for the People of Haiti

Lord, I just want to say THANK YOU, because this morning I woke up and knew where my children were. I want to thank You because this morning my home was still standing and because t I am not crying because my wife, my child, my brother or friend needs to be buried out from underneath a pile of concrete. I want to thank You because this morning I was able to drink a glass of water, I was able to turn on the TV, and I was able to take a shower. I want to thank You because this morning I was not planning a funeral, but most of all I thank You this morning because I still have life and a voice to cry out for the people of Haiti.

Lord, I cry out to You, the One that makes the impossible, possible; the One that turns darkness into light. I cry out that You give those mothers strength, that You give them peace that surpasses all understanding, that You may open the streets so that help can come, that You may provide doctors, nurses, food, water, and all that they need in a blink of an eye.

For all those that have lost family members, give them peace, give them hope, give them courage to continue to go on! Protect the children and shield them with Your Power. I pray all this in the Name of Jesus! Amen.

I found this and this listing gigs in March and April

24th January 2010: Not much news this week but Alan found this programme which is part of a latin music series and may be of interest to those of us in the UK

7th February 2010: I've found some gigs! At present, José is in Ecuador preparing for this gig there are also these concerts in April and August. Tina found some concerts in Germany in July for which there are links at the top of this page.

14th February 2010: I have found two more gigs for March; they are listed here with two of the ones we knew about.

21st February 2010: I've found two interesting pieces on YouTube this week, the first is "Tan A Gustito - Raices" which is a complete mystery to me, José is singing and playing with other Puerto Rican musicians, anyone know anything? The second is a Bill Withers track entitled "Can We Pretend" on which José plays guitar, I really liked it!

There is also news that latin musicians, including José, are collaborating on a project to raise money for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti

I am told that work on "Genius 2" is progressing well with just the strings for one track left to record before the whole thing goes to the mastering lab, the finished project will include "bonus tracks previously unreleased flashbacks of the young Jose fully orchestrated" as well as around 12 newly recorded tracks, watch this space for news as I get it!

28th February 2010: Sylvia found this about the making of "Somos el Mundo" and Tina found an article about another gig in Germany in July.

7th April 2010: There have been numerous videos of "Somos el Mundo" on Youtube, many have been blocked and, in this instant, I think that is right because if people see it for free they are less likely to pay for the download and less money will be raised for Haiti. This is the "official" Univision video .

21st March 2010: Most people will have seen reference to a new edition of the "Latin Street Album", Tina has sent this review:-

"Latin Street" is really another treasure of José's music. The cd starts with a few words and silence for Michael Jackson and then Jose plays Billie Jean with his special Latin touch, it is taken from a live recording in Austria last year. The next track is the Theme of the Third Man, really great and unique. The following songs are in Spanish Calle Latina, He Vuelta Casa, Hijo te Quiero, Con un Poco de Amor, Madrigal, Son Vallentato is my special favourite, with a very latin rhythm, Naioma, Soy Allegre are like we know in perfect sound and latin rhythm. They are followed by Sound of Vienna, again a live recording from Austria last year with the Vienna Boys Choir. It is followed by Feliz Navidad at any time of year it brings happiness if its christmas time or not. Cancion de Navidad is the last track. I heard that song for the first time and I like it. The Cd is a perfect mixture. this my very personal review, I like it very much! Tina also found this video.

Sylvia found this video , I recognise the song from "Guitarra Mia" but does anyone know when this was recorded?

28th March 2010: I know José played the accordion when he was little but I can't remember seeing him play it so this is interesting.

4th April 2010: Happy Easter! Sylvia found this very old video of José .

18th April 2010: I haven't got any news again this week, the calender on José's site is to be updated on Tuesday so I'll perhaps have something to talk about then.

25th April 2010: Sylvia found an interview with José filmed on Monday, it is in Spanish but it is always great to see him "looking good"! Click here , here and here to see it.

2nd May 2010: Who, of you reading this, played a certain song yesterday? Things are still very quiet but I did find this video of José with the band in New Orleans.

23rd May 2010: For the third consecutive Sunday I find myself with nothing to say. For almost ten years I have done updates every week, even during the two years when I was ill. José has a new management team and they seem to be taking time to make plans for the future. I have decided, therefore, to try doing monthly updates until there is more news.

In future my updates will be on the first Sunday of the month - so see you in a couple of weeks. If anyone has any better ideas please contact me.

6th June 2010: Although things are still fairly quiet it does seem that José is in for a busy summer! look at the calender on his official site for details.

5th September 2010: Sorry for the gap in updates, I want to thank Susan for the note she put on her site which explained my absence.

In three weeks time José will be in London, appearing at Ronnie Scott's . There are more European gigs later in the year.

We also have news of The Genius of José Feliciano Volume 2".

2nd October 2010: I saw José at Ronnie Scott's on Tuesday, I have a lot to say as well as a new commitment to making this site not only better than it has been over the past few months but the best it has ever been, so watch this space! :)

3rd October 2010: This is my review of José at Ronnie Scott's

11th October 2010: This is my review of "Genius 2". I really hope everyone has the opportunity to hear this wonderful album.

31st October 2010:Tina sent me this review of the new album. "This Cd is a real masterpiece of music and showing the very best José Feliciano with his very best producer and percussionist Bob Conti. My personal favourites are "Closer" and "The Colors of Love". Being not a musical expert, I concentrate on text and on the perfect combination of Jazz, Latin Touch, Harmony and Percussion. The Cd is a tribute to everyone, who loves music and with an excellent sound combined with the passion for music, that comes from the bottom of the heart. I think this CD deserve a Geammy".

I think it deserves a grammy too and I am becoming shocked at the lack of discussion about "Genius 2" by José's existing fans. I have posted on both "my" message board, which can be accessed from this page, and on the Fan Forum on his personal site with no response. Discussion there and on his Facebook Page will help spread the word and bring the music to new people.

12th December 2010: I was going to go back to monthly updates but had flu last week. I will try to do better next year!

José now has a channel on Youtube

José and Bob have been out and about "horsing around" in Arizona, there are more photos on Bob's Facebook page.

On December 15th José appears on Live From Darryl's House . I don't know if the show is available outside the USA but "fingers crossed"

Bob Conti owns the rights to the photo of José which appears at the top of this page and it is used with his permission.
